What is Automated Course Podcasting? Course Podcasting is a new initiative at Concordia that allows instructors to effortlessly create and distribute podcasts (audio recordings) of class lectures. Podcasts have proven to foster an enhanced, participatory and inclusive learning environment that encourages new types of exchange and engagement beyond the classroom. Podcasts complement course material by providing students with a valuable tool for reviewing or "catching-up" on class lectures. Podcast recording at Concordia is designed to be as easy and as automatic as possible while still giving instructors control over what classes and even what portions of classes are recorded. At the beginning of a semester an instructor registers to have their course podcast. The instructor then has access to a web-based control interface on the classroom computer where they are giving the lecture. Through this interface the instructor can start, pause or end a scheduled podcast. At the end of a class the intructor receives an email with instructions for enabling the podcast in Moodle. Concordia faculty and staff can click here to register for course podcasting. Only select classrooms are equipped for course podcasting. Please consult the classroom list before registering. Students wishing to download podcasts should go to their Moodle account or consult their instructor. Podcasts cannot be downloaded from this site. More information can be found in the FAQ section of the site. For technical support please email podcast@support.concordia.ca |
